Do you know that we purposefully reduce public lighting costs?

The public lighting network in the Czech Republic is going through a demanding process of optimalization the purpose of which is to reduce energy and operational costs. The fact that the public lighing network, which was built before 1990, is rather overloaded and inefficient makes this process even more challenging.

Currently, there are more than one million light points throughout the Czech Republic and new ones are being constructed. That is why the tendency to reduce costs is reasonable.

Consumption of electrical energy takes up the largest proportion of public lighting operational costs. So, how can we save? Here are three simple principles:

  1. Use only as much lighting as necessary.
  2. Only turn lights on when necessary.
  3. Only turn lights on where necessary.

How to achieve that?

By using high-quality light sources

  • Gradually sodium and mercury discharge lamps are replaced by LED lamps or LVD induction lamps. These lamps are:
    • long-life sources of light (up to 8 years),
    • economical, they save electrical energy (60 to 90% compared to standard light bulbs),
    • health-friendly and environmentally friendly,
    • resistant to extreme weather conditions, water, dust, impacts, shocks, and vibrations,
    • reliable,
    • compact (can be used in various systems of public lighting).

By adjusting the use of lights to current needs

  • We install a voltage regulator into the distributor of the public lighting network. The advantages are as follows:
    • it has no impact on either the electrical grid or lamps,
    • it saves electrical energy by 20 to 40%,
    • it extends the lifetime of  current discharge lamps by 25 to 50%,
    • it does not interfere with other electrical devices or mobile phones, cardio-stimulators etc.
  • We regulate light intensity using  „dimmers“, as they are called. They are light sensors that react to the intensity of daylight and consequently regulate electrical input power and light intensity according to current conditions.
  • We use time switches, which ensure gradual switching on and off  to avoid overloading of the electrical  grid or an inefficient increase in  energy consumption.

By repairing and maintaining the public lighting network thoroughly and efficiently

  • We provide detailed documentation of the public lighting network and through pasportization system, as it is called, we guarantee prompt and effective  intervention in case of a failure.
  • We keep a detailed electronic record of all maintenance interventions.
  • We use a system of remote monitoring of lighting operation conditions and a failure signaling system via radio modems, telephone lines, GSM etc.
  • We maintain the lights in the night when lit so it is not necessary to switch the lights on during the day to check the state after accomplishing the maintenance.

By  elaborated reconstruction plan  and purposeful construction of public lighting networks

  • When planning a new construction or while reconstructing public lighting networks we collaborate with experts and propose all the alternatives which may help to reduce the consumption of electrical energy.
  • We trust reputable firms with expertise in the field of construction and reconstruction of  public lighting networks.
  • We supervise the construction or reconstruction works to reach the maximum cost saving.
